Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) uses is fuel that has been liquefied and stored in a manner that makes it attractive to those who use it for energy purposes. The liquefied form of the gas can be found in two forms – combi and tank. They are both used for energy production. But what are the different uses of LPG gas?

Combining these energy sources, the use of LPG proves to be one of the best alternatives to traditional fuels. In fact, liquefied natural gas is widely used in domestic processes, particularly for home heating. In fact, it is even used inside vehicles and engines. A domestic vehicle actually uses more LPG for heating purposes than diesel or petrol for transport.

Domestic consumption of LPG is widespread because there are numerous equipments that are already in use. Many households actually have a furnace that burns LPG. This furnace converts LPG into liquid so that it can be used for domestic purposes. When LPG is heated, it turns into methane and can be further used for energy production.

The domestic process of heating and cooking using LPG also helps a lot in preserving the environment. Because of this, the government encourages the use of liquified natural gas. The Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set a yearly limit on the amount of LPG that can be used. The limit per household is about 10% of the usual LPG consumption. This means that the family’s consumption of LPG must be within the allowed limits to avoid environmental pollution caused by excesses of LPG.

Another LPG use is to fuel an engine. Due to its nature, LPG is heavier than pure natural gases and therefore must be mixed with another gas called inboard engine gasoline. Inboard engines need an auxiliary fuel to function properly. As liquefied natural gases (LPG) are lighter than gasoline and diesel, they easily fit in an inboard engine gasoline tank.

Moreover, liquefaction of LPG allows greater energy savings. In fact, an entire LPG system could cost you less than one tank of gas if you liquefy the gas first and then the fuel. If you do not liquefy the gas first, the gas will occupy too much space in the tank. Also, there are other benefits of using LPG as your primary fuel. Because of the minimal cost and energy savings, LPG is the most popularly used fuel in the US. The US Department of Energy has also stated that LPG accounts for more than 50% of the energy consumed in the country.

If you want to save money and reduce your carbon footprint, you should consider liquefying your LPG. You can do it yourself at home. To liquefy the gas, you will need a vapor extractor, a tank and a few accessories such as a catalyst, a compressor, a few heating elements and a kiln, a few copper wire, a few polyethylene pipes and a propane torch. You also need to have an air compressor or a shop vacuum to complete the entire process of liquefying the LPG.

However, before you start to liquefy natural gas, make sure you consult the manufacturer’s instructions. If you don’t know how to operate the vapor extractor, you need to buy a branded one and ask for instructions from the supplier. If you do not have sufficient storage space to store the LPG for a long time, you can get hold of your LPG and refrigerate it for two months at a time and then store it in a cool place. Read the manufacturer’s instructions and practice safe LPG storage.
